July 2025 Update
Hello Kenilworth Forest Neighbors!
The Kenilworth Forest Residents Association (KFRA) board would like to share some of the latest goings on from our perspective.
2025 KFRA Summer Party - August 5
During the National Night out on August 5 we are having a neighborhood party in the Upper Park. The KFRA Board will be supplying BBQ meat, drinks, brownies and paper plates/utensils. Neighbors should bring a side to share and drinks of your choice. We will have some chairs but it might be wise to bring your own. If you have a pop-up tent, folding tables, or generally want to help, you can reach out to Jeanne Murphy and Amy Gordon who are organizing. You can find them in the Signal group KWF Chat.
2025 Dues
As of July 2025 we are approximately $3000 short of our $6000 goal. If you are a homeowner, you can pay by check or by using our website (kenilworthforest.org). If you are a renter, please help by ensuring your landlord is informed. Most (54%) of our dues payments go to fund maintenance, preservation and protection of the Upper and Lower Parks. Dues are voluntary, but these parks belong to all of us in KWF and we must maintain them or face the major risk of losing the land to the city. Come view a history of our Parks at the Summer Party!
Compass Point and Sunrise Asheville
The KFRA board met with representatives from Compass Point and Sunrise Asheville regarding the increase of homeless activity in our neighborhood. While we support their efforts and mission to reduce homelessness, our intention is first and foremost to ensure residents of Kenilworth Forest benefit from a safe and enjoyable place to live. In order to accomplish this, we have been working closely with Compass Point and the Asheville Police Department (APD), to ensure KWF residents live in a peaceful and untroubled neighborhood. If you see abnormal activity in KWF, we encourage you to communicate with your neighbors on Signal, and call the APD non-emergency line at 828-252-1110. (When you initially call the APD non-emergency line you can say the word “dispatcher” repeatedly to get to a human.) You can also report via the Asheville App and the Asheville REST team will provide service. APD has been responding rapidly to assess any reported situations. They can then recommend appropriate available services and only make an arrest if the person has an active warrant.
